My girlfriend and I went to Darty Albi to buy a new stove for a house we'll be moving to this summer. For cost reasons, we agreed on an induction cooktop and in particular, for me at least, I needed one where you can control the heating temp gradually, not a start-stop model, where you get a blast of heat that's hotter than what you need for a few seconds, then goes off, etc. I like to cook with chocolate, where a constant low heat is needed, and using a double boiler is too dangerous, since even a drop of water in the chocolate will cause it to seize up. Anyway, when we got there, a salesman introduced himself and asked if we had any questions. I told him what I wanted and he steered me to a 1400 euro Smeg range. I asked him if he was sure that it operated as I needed and he assured me it did, and to prove it he pointed to the dials, which indeed suggested a continuous range of temperature. So we bought the range and had it delivered. After it got connected a few weeks later and I got a chance to try it out, I discovered that turning the dials only pointed to the usual range of digits 1-9. The guy who sold us this range knew perfectly well that it was an ordinary start-stop setup and just wanted to make a sale of an expensive item, no doubt for a commission. Bought an item from here, initial sales service by Romain was excellent. However, after negotiating a discount on the price and being offered Darty Max free for a year it turns out that this is not the case. The sales invoice shows Darty max as 0€... Happy with this offer we accepted and paid in full. Less than a month later a payment is taken from my bank for Darty Max! On visiting the store and asking why, it turns out that although it shows 0€ on the invoice and is included as a discount off the final price, we have to pay for Darty Max. This means that in effect they offered us a free Darty Max but actually it isn't free and we are trapped into paying this for a year! The responsible manager? we spoke to has absolutely no interest in resolving this matter. His attitude is, just because it shows as a discount doesn't mean that it is? Go figure....sharp practice to say the least....

Dreadful after sales service will never go here again. Misleading information given out to get you to pay for something supposed to be free. No concern for customer at all. Would have given zero stars if an option.
